Aisle16’s
first foray into musically accompanied verse, Powerpoint is
as paranoid, feverish and honest-to-god exhilarating as the
show it’s based on. Recorded during a two week period
in a borrowed vocal booth and Chris’ sweaty warehouse
room, this long player is a disparate collection of lo-fi
sound-scapes which, although rough round the edges, manages
to be both sublime and ridiculous… sometimes simultaneously.
Every
piece from the Edinburgh incarnation of the Powerpoint show
is featured here, set against suffocated samples and off-kilter
percussion. Segued with recordings from the pilot performance
of powerpoint, and with original artwork by Sam Ratcliffe,
each CD is individualistically sloganised, just like a fortune
cookie. Intriguing.
